This month’s Viewpoint features an Abbey near Newberg, Oregon. It involved a significant square footage of both vertical and slope glazing with Westview’s clad-wood system.
Shown here are several pictures of the pyramid skylight as it took shape in our plant and was then lifted into position at the cupola. Provisions were made for the steel cross to be mounted at the peak, as well as steel mounting brackets at the outside corners. Glazing was PPG Solar Ban 60/ Heat Strengthened Clear Laminated. The large ridge skylight units were muted in their interior appearance by wood baffles.
The Prow unit is a real focal point of this facility, with large glass units looking out on a rural setting. The clear-grade Douglas Fir glue-lam beams blend nicely with other woodwork in the building and furnishings.
There are numerous other window-wall units, some with operable awning windows. Several meditation areas feature slope glazing with a short vertical glazing, which also helps to capture the outdoor vistas.
We recommend these possibilities to you for your commercial clients. You will find the Westview system to be unique, well-engineered, and well-tested. Please contact us for assistance in any preliminary design you are working on. |
